MFJ 67 “Devoted to Artists’ Moving Image”

The 50th Edition

Spring 2018

This is the 50th volume of the Millennium Film Journal. If you have the entire run of the journal on your shelves, the count will be 50 books including this one. Though this volume is labeled MFJ No. 67, the number of the issue does not indicate how many physical editions of the magazine have been published, since there were several multi-volume issues in the ‘80s and ‘90s. This is indeed the 50th book. It is also 50 years since Ken Jacobs founded the Millennium Film Workshop, an anniversary celebrated throughout 2018 with 50+ events in New York City.

In these sorry times, the political is around every corner, under every rock, inspiring a spectrum of artistic approaches and responses. The 50th volume is a far-reaching demonstration of the continuing potential of the moving image in the hands of artists.
