MFJ 80 “Strata”
Fall 2024
“The theme of strata, loosely conceived to include layerings, juxtapositions, superimpositions and palimpsests, runs through this issue, manifesting in a variety of ways: geological, of course, but also formal, conceptual, theoretical, and historical… What emerges from MFJ 80 is the idea of interconnectedness through artistic and political influences, historical resonances and other linkages that attest if not in a direct way to the concept of strata, stress the way things tend unavoidably to intermingle.”
Excerpted from Nicky Hamlyn and Kim Knowles’s Introduction MFJ 80 “Strata” (Fall 2024).
