MFJ 55 “Structures and Spaces: Cine-Installation”
Spring 2012
Black box or white cube? The question feels almost age-old – or maybe just clichéd. Even so, there was a time when cinema’s obvious place was in the black box – and now, as avant-garde cinema morphs into artists’ cinema, it is difficult to imagine an artist who works with the moving image who would not consider installation or how to construct his or her work around a loop. This issue of the Millennium Film Journal addresses the manifestation of this trend in contemporary work through the eyes of practitioners and thinkers (and some who are both).
