Charles Fairbanks is an American-born filmmaker, wrestler, professor and occasional writer. Currently based in Oaxaca, his films have screened on six continents, in dozens of countries and at hundreds of festivals. Fairbanks’s recent films The Modern Jungle (2016) and ( ( ( ( ( /*\ ) ) ) ) ) (2019) were co-directed with Mexican artist Saúl Kak in his Chiapan hometown, as they narrate the Zoque people’s ancient cosmovision and contemporary struggles.
